Characters
These are my favorite things to draw by far. While stories of these characters are always attached to the designs, I have lots of fun exploring ideas for characters/creatures daily in several mediums. I've included a few of my favorites for various reasons on here, but there are new ones in my sketchbook all the time.
For this robot character, I was inspired pretty directly by Lawrence of Arabia and some concept artists. I really like the idea of an "El Aurens" robot who leads a semi-nomadic lifestyle when he's not leading other desert dwelling robots into battle. The colored version is the initial drawing while the left-most version is the newer design.
These two designs are part of a set of somewhat anthropomorphized insect characters for a short story I wrote a while ago. These two are co-protectors of a traveling group of insects who regularly have to fight other insects, arachnids, frogs, birds, etc. I continue to have fun with these designs, but this is still one of my favorites.
Bud is a quick sketch of an idea I do occasionally when I fidget. He's basically a precocious robot child who believes what people tell him he should be as an automaton (hence his interest in Isaac Asimov books).
